Nelson’s artist’s career flourishes after moving to
New Zealand

jean-jackson-2.jpgDuring her formative years Jean attended Nuneaton Art School, whilst at the same time studied Pianoforte with the London Trinity College of Music for ten years. During her early years,music was her priority but after relocating to Constable Country in the counties of Essex and Suffolk after a long absence from painting, her love for creating art was rekindled. It was then she picked up her brushes again and has continued painting for over thirty years.

Her first success was when she was selected to exhibit in the UKs John Laing National Exhibition then going on to sell in the UK, Europe and America. Her first visit to New Zealand was when she and her husband attended their eldest daughters  wedding in 2002. She was smitten by New Zealand and it became clear to her that it was an artists paradise. In 2003/2004 along with their youngest daughter, they emigrated from England. Her first success was in 2010. Yellow Pages Art Awards announced her the winner with her painting “Busy Bees” which appeared on the cover of that years Telephone Directory.

Since being a member of Art Group Nelson and Tasman Visual Arts Group she has been privileged to have been chosen “Peoples Choice” winner at numerous exhibitions including the 2017 TVAG Spring Exhibition and was a top seller at the January 2018 Art Group Nelson “Queens Garden” exhibition and “Peoples Choice” winner at the June 2018 and 2019 Winter exhibitions.

Jean is also a member of the Nelson Suter Art Society.

Her preferred mediums are Oils and Water colour. Style, realism.

She now sells in Australia, Canada, USA, Fiji, UK and New Zealand.
